Garten der Lüste
In this large-scale image the three entities of paradise (heaven), earth, and hell are depicted in one large composition.
Shot in one location, the image questions how humans can turn one place, one life, into beauty as well as into ugliness.
The use of animal masks emphasizes the raw, often sexual, instinct as the driving force behind human interaction. The center couple, however, provides hope for a separation of humans and animals. This hope is depicted as the femininity, which is guiding men, who are trapped within their surrounding animalistic nature, into an alternative, self-controlled state of mind.
The project draws its inspiration from Hieronymus Bosch’s painting The Garden of Earthly Delights.
